buildings, EuskoTren's ambition with the site and brief demanded a
broader response and contribution towards the urban regeneration in
the centre of Durango.
The 7 storys building will occupy a total area of 7,291,35 m2. General information - exhibition spaces and entrances for both the HQ and Commercial Centre will be located on the ground floor. In front of the HQ there will be a taxi and bus interchange.
Hadid's design combines the functional necessities of EuskoTren with a new vision for the of future.
The new Durango Station is to be located underground with access
up to a separate ground floor entrance facing Ezkurdi Plaza. In
front of the station is a car drop off. All services will be
concealed underground with one central platform located 14 metres
below ground level.
EuskoTren are excavating and sinking new tracks to run underground and emerge on the opposite site of Durango.
By concealing the tracks and providing a new lower- level station, all ground is vacated and made available for the creation of a new public park.
