Registered as a Historic Monument in 1979, the Priory is now under attack. The regular maintenance undertaken since its construction could not prevent the major damages that now necessitate an extensive restoration project. In partnership with the State and local authorities, the community is in favor of the emergence of a Cultural Meeting Centre at La Tourette . Faced with these present difficulties, the priory now calls, upon the help of friends.

Concrete cracking, defective insulation and dangerously installed electricity, calls for a complete restoration of La Tourette. The total reparation costs add up to more than 4 million euros.

Consecrated to architecture and cultural heritage, the project of La Tourette depends upon this emblematic symbol of modern architecture in order to develop a cultural program both original and strong. Thanks to the opportunities offered by the Rencontres Thomas More, the project will also lend itself to the direction of human sciences, philosophy and the arts. Through the architecture studios, residences, visits, Priory housing and other initiatives that favor cultural mediation, La Tourette s ambition is to affirm the living character of the location. It is a return to the idea of a “studium”. Its objective is to explain and to share 20th century cultural heritage by that which was conceived by Le Corbusier and measured by that which is La Tourette .

Visitors, architects and lovers of architecture, it is you that are sensible to the force, the atmosphere and the animated life that this building invokes. L’Association des Amis de La Tourette in charge of collecting the funds for this endeavour needs you.
