BT Huset

The BT building is situated on a very prominent street corner in the center of Copenhagen. This factor has been exploited by placing the editorial offices in the new building as an urban focus point. The new glass building was integrated in the existing city block, while the corner marked by the new firewall emphasizes it as an independent building. The building is defined by three autonomous planes; first the floating roof; second, the glass facade facing Grønnegade, which with its optimum transparency, underscores the direct connection and communication between outside (reality) and inside (the newspaper); and third, the outer screen facing Kr.Bernikowsgade, a simple steel structure, sided with perforated steel panels. The screens constant flickering expresses the continuous stream of events, which is the basis for a newspaper. In the evening the building's activities are "projected" on the screen as a play of light and shadow.
