The Arezzo Law Court is located in a historical park in the Medici’s Fortress. The new building, housing the main courtrooms and the Hall of Justice President’s headquarters, is linked to a neoclassical building, once a large hospital, that will be restored and used for offices and archives.

The design of the New Wing symbolises its environment, the rich vegetation of the park and the city’s medieval structure, which was protected by a belt of conch walls on one side and open to the squares and gardens on the other.

On the north side the New Wing is enclosed by a curved wall of black granite slabs with a flamed surface, giving it a matted dark-grey tone.

The south facing facade is covered by a transparent, undulating stainless steel sunscreen.
The curvilinear form, with only rectilinear elements, is geometrically warped in shapes characteristic of nature and leaves.

This silver bio-climatic foliage, that protects the interior spaces by a luminous shadow, blends with the park without clashing with the neoclassical architectural elements.

The greenish glazed envelope encloses an interior space with polished black granite floor and horizontally placed acoustical panels, of perforated grey aluminium, separated by narrow maple fascia.

The three-story high entrance hall, dominated by an elevator clad in the same polished black granite as the floor, receives daylight through the roof.
