Office dA is a Boston-based firm whose principal partners are Monica Ponce de Leon and Nader Tehrani.

The work of Office dA is diverse in scope and scale, ranging from the broader scale of urban design and infrastructure to architecture, interiors and furniture design. Among other projects, various notable designs include: Miami - Public Infrastructure for the Tropics, a project that received first prize in the 1993 Boston Society of Architects Unbuilt Architecture Competition and is published in The New City Journal of Architecture printed by Princeton Architectural Press. Currently, Office dA is developing a master plan for the Town of Wayland, Massachusetts, a project that has received a Design Award for the 1999 Progressive Architecture Awards. This commission encompasses four zones of the town in and around its center: a mixed-use proposal for a 83-acre site formerly occupied by the Raytheon Corporation, the existing commercial district, the historic preservation district, and a new pedestrian ring road that will connect all municipal buildings. Among other projects, Office dA is also currently designing a 190 unit Apartment Building in the Roads Area of Miami, and A Youth Center in for the Asian Community in Downtown Boston. Under construction, Office dA is seeing through completion the renovation and Harvard Graduate School of Design Architecture and Urban Design offices and gallery, Mantra Restaurant in Downtown Boston, the Seibel/Bina Residence, as well as Tres Jolie Hair Salon in Brookline.

The Mill Road House, Casa La Roca, The Zahedi House, and The Toledo House have all won Awards in the yearly Progressive Architecture Awards Competition, respectively in 1995,1996, 1998, and 1999; The Greene House, built in 1990, is published in Casas Internacionales and The New American House by The Whitney Library of Design; the Northeastern University Multi-faith Spiritual Center, consisting of the redesign of a religious interior -- completed in 1998 --, has also been awarded a BSA Unbuilt Architecture Award and a Design Award from the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art, and Architecture Professional Interest Area of the AIA. Office dA has also received two I.D. Magazine Awards, one of which was for the ORO/Laszlo Line of Furniture.

Monica Ponce de Leon and Nader Tehrani have also been awarded the 1997 Young Architects Award from the Architecture League of New York, and have received two Young Architect Awards from the Boston Society of Architects in 1999. Office dA’s work has also been nominated for the Chrysler Award. A monograph of the work of Office dA has recently been published by the CWA Series of Rockport Publishers with an introduction by Rodolphe El Khoury.

Ponce de Leon was born in Venezuela and is now living in the United States. She received a Bachelor degree from the University of Miami in 1989 followed by a Masters of Architecture and Urban Design from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1991. She is an Associate Professor at Harvard Graduate School of Design, and has also taught at Northeastern University, and The University of Miami.

Tehrani, who is of Persian descent, was born in England. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1986 and a Masters of Architecture and Urban Design from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1991. He also attended a Post-graduate program in History and Theory at the Architectural Association in London. He has taught at Northeastern University and Rhode Island School of Design, and is currently teaching Architecture and Urban Design at Harvard Graduate School of Design.
