Architects schmidt hammer lassen won the international competition for the design of the Århus Art Museum in 1997.
The new museum will be one of the largest museums in Northern Europe.

arcspace has covered the project from the first sketches to the winning competition design and now, a month before the inauguration on April 7, 2004, we give you a sneak preview.

From the north and south two dynamic ramps lead into the brightly lit reception area where a giant spiral staircase, and two elevators, provide visitors with access to all the art and service departments in the building.
