Philippe Starck
Yoo Adelgade

Copenhagen, Denmark

”Denmark is a country with a tradition for architecture and design that is hard to find elsewhere. There is an awareness of design and culture that matches Yoo’s concept perfectly.”
Philippe Starck.

The Yoo building, an entirely new apartment concept for Copenhagen, is located on a quiet street in the center of the city. The building, a former office/factory building from 1963, is in the process of being totally renovated, leaving only the exterior walls and the horizontal divisions.

When completed the building will house 60 luxury apartments, a private fitness center, a 1,800 square meter roof terrace, and a basement garage. The first 20 apartments, including two penthouses with views of the Copenhagen’s skyline, will be ready in May 2006.

The ability to personalize each space is key to the Yoo concept. Philippe Starck and his team have created a master menu, a pattern book of four style choices, for finishes and fittings, furniture and objects, which can all be mixed and matched to work individually or in synchronization.
