What's New on the Bookshelves? January 2015 edition

January 16, 2015 /

This year starts off with several interesting book releases, including the complete works of Spanish minimalist Campo Baeza as well as a well-grounded call for a radically new tectonic understanding in architecture. Also, a collection of the most controversial buildings of our time and the present state and future of space design.

The new Thames & Hudson monograph on Spanish architect Alberto Campo Baeza is a brilliant illustration of a singular body of work that exudes the power of radical simplicity.

In Towards an Ecology of Tectonics, Anne Beim explores ideas, design principles and practices that relate to tectonics in architecture while discussing the concept of  ecology, in the widest sense of the word.

Solid Wood provides the a detailed look at the potential of massive timber and wood constructions in architecture and Controversial Architecture takes a look at some of the most talked about projects of recent years.

The City Lost and Found explores photographic and cinematic responses to the changing fabric of New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles that contributed to a reconsideration of cities in popular media and urban policy during the 1960s and 70s.

Finally, the latest issue of AD features the most significant current projects underway and highlights key areas of research in Space, such as energy, materials, manufacture and robotics.

Happy reading.
