The first Copenhagen Architecture Guide was released during Copenhagen Cultural Capital ‘96 and has been indispensable to me as a source of professional information as well as general information for friends visiting Denmark. The Guide was nominated as one of the year’s best books in 1997.
The new 2001 edition includes 30 new projects selected by the writers and editors.

It is a great guide but..... with an entire section dedicated to gardens and new windmill parks we do miss a word or two about the Architecture Park Kolonihaven.
After all it is unique... it is about gardens... it is Danish and... it is the only place in the world where so many Internationally renowned architects have contributed a design for a small pavilion.
Foreign architecture guides, as well as several foreign publications about Denmark, have included information about Kolonihaven the Architecture Park in their publications.
Since it was my contribution to Cultural Capital ‘96 I will take this opportunity to include it in my announcement of the new guide.

A design by Henning Larsen for Kolonihaven

We did have to temporarely stop construction south of Copenhagen because of limited funding but, for those of you who are interested, the entire Architecture Park is now under construction at the Louisiana Museum north of Copenhagen.
Visit arcspace for up-to-date news or, even better, stop by Kolonihaven on your visit to the Louisiana Museum see the first five houses that have been moved from their site south of Copenhagen.

Professor Olaf Lind is an excellent architecture critic and writer; you can read an introduction to the book "docomomo" by him in the arcspace "Bookcase" .
