In 1994 the Department of Airports held a competition at Los Angeles International Airport. Rhino Chasers was the winning entry for Terminal One.

This prototype for the California microbrewery is located on the main concourse of the busy commuter terminal. It is sited within its skylit atrium.

The name Rhino Chasers is taken from the mythology of the California surfing culture. Rhino Chasers were daredevil surfers who challenged the big waves they called "rhinos" on longboards known as "guns".

Once airports were wood and canvas hangars beside dirt landing strips. Pilots were heroes. Their passengers were daredevils. Rhino Chasers invokes that exuberant spirit of the untameable.
