Ragnar Th. Sigurdsson ( b.1958 ) is a professional photographer, educated in Sweden and Iceland. He started as a news photographer in1975 but has had his own studio and graphic-work firm since1985.
Ragnar masters a broad range of work, including studio advertising photography, illustrations of travel publications, annual reports and covering of official arrangements. He has for example covered many events arranged by the Export Council of Iceland, the Scientific Council of Iceland and the President of Iceland.
He has provided illustrations for a number of books, calendars and magazines.
Ragnar Th.Sigurdsson specialises in photography of nature and travel in the Arctic, including Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Northwest Territories/Nunavut of Canada. He reached the North Pole in 1995. Among his motives in an archive of 100,000 photos are geological formations in Iceland, volcanoes, geothermal activity, different landforms, waterfalls and glaciers, wildlife and the flora. In 1995, he published a well-received book and awarded on Icelandic glaciers with Ari Trausti GuÝmundsson. In 1996, he and Ari Trausti published a bestseller on the recent volcanic, subglacial activity in the Vatnajškull ice cap.
Ragnar has participated in many photographic exhibitions and recently, he held a large exhibition in the Kopavogur Art Museum and another one in Nuuk, Greenland.
