The building is conceived as an element completely integrated in the surrounding landscape and, at the same time, as an autonomous site-specific sculpture.
The Central Building is the active nerve-centre or brain of the whole BMW factory complex. All threads of the building's activities gather together and branch out again from here.
The new California Academy of Sciences houses the Kimball Natural History Museum, Steinhart Aquarium and Morrison Planetarium, along with eight scientific research departments and over 20 million scientific specimens.
