KOLONIHAVEN - The International Challenge - has grown from a dream in 1994, to an architecture park under construction, at the Louisiana Museum in Denmark, and a growing wonderful, and inspirational, collection of models and drawings that travels around the world.
The project could never have become a reality without the support of many individuals and institutions.
My deepest gratitude go to the architects for their commitment and wonderful imaginative designs. They come from all over the world and their designs are radically different; each house tells its own story that both amuses and provokes thoughts. I also want to thank Copenhagen Cultural Capital '96, Stockholm Cultural Capital '98, Reykjavík Cultural Capital 2000, Reykjavik Arts Festival, The Municipality of Vallensbæk, The Danish Ministry of Culture, Gammel Dok - Danish Centre for Architecture, Arken Museum of Modern Art, Arkitekturmuseet, Reykjavík Art Museum and Kolonihaven's many Danish partners whose help was indispensable.
Finally, because of Delphi Inc. Japan, the Kolonihaven collection will tour Japan spreading the word of the Century old Northern European tradition "The Little House and Garden".
