News from Los Angeles.....
Back in Los Angeles to check out the scene and, as always when I am on the road, my letters are weekly news and very short.
My first week in Los Angeles I visited the great photographer Julius Shulman who is conducting a 5 week photography class. They met in his studio at the Soriano House he has lived in since Soriano built it for him in the early 1950's and continued the lecture at the John Lautner Chemosphere House. After an introduction to the house the students were left free to photograph for an hour.

Arriving Downtown LA towards the Concert Hall.
On my way to Pasadena I stopped by Bunker Hill where the steel skeleton for the new Walt Disney Concert Hall designed by Frank O. Gehry is rising high above ground. The project takes up an entire city block with the Concert Hall located in the center of the site. The majority of the site will be devoted to gardens, accessible not only from the Hall but from the adjacent streets, providing an oasis within the surrounding urban environment.

The Entry Plaza will be located at the comer of First and Grand.
