Spending the holidays with Leonardo...

This was an early Christmas present, perfect for this time of year where all I want to do is take a rest from the computer. Imagine starting the holidays with a Montblanc Leonardo Sketch Pen with an integrated pencil sharpener...and a bottle of Da Vinci Chianti!

I had my first Montblanc at age fourteen but now I use the new inks that Montblanc produces. For Christmas I have filled it with White forest; Montblanc Seasons Greetings Scented Ink 2009.

My father wrote with the coral red fountain pen from the 1930s, now the Ernest Hemingway Writers Edition fountain pen.

Montblanc’s Meisterstück classic pen turns 85 years this year. The UNICEF pen is the first modification of this pen in 85 years. Montblanc added the blue sapphire as an allusion to the UNICEF blue and the olive branch is visible in the golden rim in the cap.

The Meisterstück 149 has been used to sign treaties or golden books for a lot of cities. Here we have Chancellor Konrad Adenauer with President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and Chancellor Angela Merkel with President Barack Obama in 2009.

My Leonardo present came about because I talked about having seen a very small Leonardo da Vinci exhibition, “Angel in the Flesh,” at the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles . The drawing, depicting an erotic image of an androgynous nude, is said to have been purged from the British Royal Collection during Queen Victoria’s reign because it was deemed pornographic. It is the first time ever that the drawing is shown in the US. Another drawing, “The Theatre Sheet,” included its two fragments, cut up in the late 16th century and reunited here.

I saw a superb exhibition "Leonardo da Vinci, Master Draftsman,” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2003 and also reviewed the book “Leonardo da Vinci: The Complete Paintings and Drawings.”
Our next update will be the first Monday of 2010 but I will be tweeting a lot during the holidays. Follow arcspacedotcom on Twitter.
Finally, I found this funny photo which is exactly how my head feels after publishing close to 100 articles this year. My neck is so stiff that even my Second Life avatar, KK Jewell, is wearing a neck brace:):)

P.S. Next year I want the latest addition to the Montblanc collection, the Ingrid Bergman La Donna. The engraved metal cap is coated with a mother-of-pearl style lacquer and decorated with the Swedish movie star's signature. Being Scandinavian I think this set is a "must" for me.
